Bulgaria
is an island of peace in the turbulent Balkans. It is a member of NATO and it
is scheduled to join the EU in 2007.
The country has a fast growing tourist
industry due to its beautiful countryside with picturesque mountains and sandy
beaches. Some of the resorts are already well known to many visitors from the
UK.

The
Bulgarian people are traditionally hospitable and friendly to foreigners. English
is widely spoken, especially in the capital Sofia and at the Black Sea and ski
resorts.
Property prices are usually quoted in Euros as the national currency
(the Lev) is pegged to the Euro. They are relatively low compared
to any country in Central and Western Europe.
